Root Canal Therapy (Endodontics)

Root canal therapy is a procedure to save a severely infected or damaged tooth instead of removing it.

Why It’s Needed:

Inside your tooth is soft tissue called pulp. If it becomes infected due to deep decay, a crack, or trauma, it can cause intense pain and lead to tooth loss if untreated.

Procedure Steps:

  • The dentist removes the infected pulp.
  • The inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected.
  • The space is filled and sealed.
  • A crown may be added for protection.

Signs You Might Need a Root Canal:

  • Severe pain when chewing or biting
  • Long-lasting sensitivity to heat or cold
  • Swollen or tender gums
  • A pimple on the gums (abscess)
  • Deep decay or darkened gums
